Tall Ships come to Duluth
The HMS Bounty

The HMS Bounty is dedicated to keeping the ship sailing and using her as a vehicle for teaching the nearly lost arts of square rigged sailing and seamanship. She was built in 1960 for the MGM movie in 1961, Mutiny on the Bounty. The ship was modeled after and built like ships from 200 years before. The ship appeared in other films and then became a tourist attraction in Florida for MGM until ..........  Ted Turner acquired the MGM film library in 1986. He got the ship with the library. He used it in the film Treasure Island with Charlton Heston in 1989. He sold it to a group that would maintain it as an education venture, but it was sold again in 2001 to the current owner. After extensive rehabilitation, the ship first went to the United Kingdom and has, since then, been operated and an educational and training venture.
