| The Canadian Transport was built in 1979, the same year additional width was allowed for vessels going through the Welland Canal. That allowed them to add .83 inches to her breadth. She is 730 feet long and 75.83 feet wide. The additional .83 of a foot allows for 31,800 more cubic feet of cargo space. When in Duluth, she usually loads 30,000 tons of low sulfur western coal for Ontario Power at Nanticoke. She makes between 15 and 20 trips to the Twin Ports each season. |
